Well, it’s the end of the first six weeks and I’ve seen lots of books going in and out of the library.   Tell me what book is in your backpack right now and why you chose that book.  Was it the cover, the title, the blurb on the back, or maybe it’s by a favorite author.  Let me know the title and author of your book as well as why you picked it to be your “backpack” buddy.  Remember to use complete sentences and check over your spelling before you submit your entry!

Wow, I can’t believe its May and the year is almost over.  Write and let me know what your 3 favorite books or stories were that you read or had read to you this year.  It might be a Bluebonnet, a Caldecott, a Bookworm book, or anything else that touched you in some way.  If you can remember the author and include his or her name in your post, it will help your friends locate the book if they want to read it also.

After reading some of this year’s Bluebonnet books, its finally time to cast your vote for the one that you think is the best.  Before you vote I want you to take a little time and reflect on your reasons for choosing a book as your favorite.  When you are ready, put your thoughts in writing and post them.  Remember, others are reading your responses.  You need to really “sell” your favorite book.  Just saying it was funny or good won’t get the job done.  I will expect complete sentences and reasonably decent spelling in your post.  Make a case for the book of your choice and “May the best book win!”

One of the most amazing things about a poem is the way the poet paints a picture with his or her words.  Here’s a holiday poem for you to read.  After you’ve finished, let me know what you think it is.  Tell me what words in the poem make you think your guess is correct.
